NC Approves Bill To Raise Tax On Poor, Uneducated
The NC House approved a lottery bill by a vote of 62-58 today.
As a native North Carolinian, I think this is a sad commentary on the continued moral decline of our residents. Surely there is a better way to fund education than through state sponsored gambling.
What will happen in a few more years when there is another $1bn budget shortfall? Will we have government run crack houses and brothels?
Removing tax loopholes and providing incentives for new business development is a much better answer.

I think your point is well received. I am totally against a lottery, I think while it provides revenue on one end, it provides "false hope" on the other. Futhermore given the fact the state uses annuities in many instances to finance the lottery, they are ripping the citizens off.
Just wanted to say happy early birthday from David J. Baranski. Oh, and you're wrong about the "tax on the poor and uneducated" thing, too....
